ADEBOYE UNDERSTANDS WITH PRAYER
) Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), on Sunday called on Nigerians to pray for divine intervention in efforts to solve the country's security challenges.
Adeboye made this call at a special prayer session for the Nigeria Police Force at the RCCG National Headquarters, Ebute/Metta, Lagos.
``Security is no doubt one of our major challenges in Nigeria today; bomb blast, kidnapping, murder and armed robbery are on the increase daily.
``There is a need for spiritual intervention in solving these problems. We need the intervention of God in all these challenges.
``God is our present help in times of troubles. God is ready to hear and defend this nation if we call on him,” he said.
The cleric noted that police perform one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, adding that they are always vulnerable to attacks by armed robbers.
He noted that there are bad eggs among the police, and prayed that God should expose them.
``It is only God that keeps the keepers; the police do the most dangerous job in the world.
``They need only God to defend them, protect them, meet all their needs and support them, particularly during dangerous times,” he added.
The Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, who was represented by Mr James Olatunji, Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, observed that there is decadence in the society at large.
``People do not want to do what is right. The truth is that the police having been carved out as an agency to ensure that the right things are done should stand out.
``I want to say categorically that there is zero tolerance for corruption and anti social activities, particularly within the police force now,”
